on my desk C raig Callaway is the type of company president every em-ployee wishes to work for, ven-dors love to work with and that clients love to buy from. Whip-smart, ethi-cal, measured and about as different as you can get from some of the other chronically eccentric CEOs in the industry, Callaway’s steady hand has earned him the respect of his peers – hence his repeat showing on Counselor ’s annual Power 50 list – and continued success, growing his company, eCompany Store ( asi/185782 ), over 5% from 2010 to 2011. Here, we learn of his love of golf, which American president he admires, and which color defines his personality. CRAIG CALLAW Ay Beginning a recurring golf theme: “A gift from the employees. It’s a clock with me swinging a golf club with a suit on.” A photograph of Callaway with President George H. W. Bush. “A great American!” A Counselor Power 50 Award from one of Callaway’s numerous appearances on the list. “A brand-new product conceived and developed by eCompanyStore,” Callaway says mysteriously. “Go to bigshooz.com to see it!” A stack of Legos based on the Insight Personality Profile indicator. “Colors are stacked based on your most dominant personality trait,” Callaway says. “Red is drive and focus, blue is detail orientation, green is empathy and yellow is motivation/ communication. I’m a red.” A T-shirt Callaway received from a Cancer Society company fundraiser with the slogan: “Fight Like A Girl”. Some of Callaway’s favorite books, including Tribes by Seth Godin: “Best book there. A must-read if you love connecting groups of people.” “My three girls. Destin (23), Austin (22) and McKenzie (9). Not pictured is Kerry, my wife of 30 years!” Completing, and possibly determining, Callaway’s “favorite shelf” is this “picture and score card from playing Augusta National.” An iPad. Callaway’s favorite apps? “iSwing for my golf swing, Flight Tracker for business, USA Today for a quick read on the news.” A Racing School Graduate Certificate. I’m all digital – except the padfolio.” A large monitor connected to Callaway’s laptop. “It allows me to share my screen with the person I’m meeting with,” he says. “I’m a visual communicator, and I like to collaborate with us both seeing the same thing.” WWW.sUPPLIeRGLoBALResoURCe.Com mAy/JUne 2012 25
